2/21/2023 0 Comments Deja vu restaurant![]() ![]() I called him an asshole and proceded to sit down and order another beer.Īt 10:30am my friends came and got me for breakfast. I ask the bartender what was up and he admits that she was just going to rob me and "probably" wasn't going to hurt me, even though she had a gun in her purse. I think better of it and politely excuse myself and crawl back into the bar. When I get out she asks me my name and acts like we hadn't been talking for over an hour and starts to pull me into the cab. He says sure, go ahead, I'll be fine, go have fun. I ask the bartender, who I have been chatting with for most of the night if it's safe to go with her. I may have had a few more than a few too many but I know I'm in one of the most ruthless and dangerous cities on the map. ![]() Finally at 6:30am she says she's going to call a cab and we're going back to her place. So as Jade sits down next to me (most likely because I had a sign over my head that said "Hey I'm not from around these parts) and we start to talk.and talk and talk. Mind you the following story illustrates the very core nature of this bar, it's not to inflate my ego. I knew as I sat there whapping back swill that I would never forget this place, and never see its equal for the rest of my days.Īt some point, probably around 5am a beautiful woman named Jade came and sat down next to me. He was without a doubt "Big Daddy" and they all seemed to look at him like a father figure. The bartender was a very large man, and the protectorate of all the ladies in the joint. Everyone was just doing their own thing, no one bothered anyone. I couldn't help but notice the bar was full of women, and as it turned out they were all strippers getting off work or prostitutes. My night (or morning as it were) began with a few big named macros followed by a few more. It is what it is, like it or get the hell out. Their website says this place was an opium den in the 1880's and the atmosphere feels like it still could be. I walked into the bar and immediately I felt like I was in another place, another time. The three people I went out with were tired and went back to the hotel, but I couldn't pass this up. ![]() I strolled into Deja Vu at 3:30am, after Bourbon Street closed down. What this place may have lacked in selection it more than made up for in those areas. Let me preface this by saying some bars should be here purely for their uniqueness, character and vibe. OK here I am in New Orleans with a few friends, and we all intend to partake of all the wonders Bourbon Street has to offer, but Deja Vu, which was a block away from the 's like someone was smiling down.
